The Development Services Department (DSD) recognizes the importance of industry-related certifications and continuing education for professionals in our industry. That is why we make professional development an essential part of our business. Our Training Manager works closely with various professionals in the industry to offer educational training support for our staff as well as our customers/community. Our training programs focus on those seeking to extend their knowledge base, continuing education and certification.
DSD organizes several SABCA sessions per year with the goal of bringing high-quality educators and necessary building-related codes training for code officials, design professionals, builders, tradespeople, and building owners and managers.

DSD began researching the establishment of the Alamo International Code Council (ICC) Chapter to provide training opportunities and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for DSD staff, municipalities surrounding San Antonio and the development community.
Many benefits of an ICC Chapter will be realized, including a great networking opportunity for ICC Chapter members. Eligible ICC chapters will be awarded education benefits from ICC, which could mean a complimentary training day for qualified chapters. Discussions about a possible Alamo ICC Chapter began early in 2016.
