TRAINING

We recognize the importance of industry-related certifications and continuing education for professionals in our industry. That is why we make professional development an essential part of our business. Our Training Manager works closely with various professionals in the industry to offer educational training support for our staff as well our customers/community. Our training programs focus on those seeking to extend their knowledge base, continuing education and certification.

San Antonio Building Codes Academy (SABCA)

Development Services Department organizes several San Antonio Building Codes Academy (SABCA) sessions per year with the goal of bringing high-quality educators and necessary building-related codes training for code officials, design professionals, builders, tradesmen and building owners and managers.

Alamo International Code Council (ICC) 

The City of San Antonio’s Development Services Department (DSD) began researching the establishment of the Alamo International Code Council (ICC) Chapter to provide training opportunities and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for DSD staff, municipalities surrounding San Antonio, and the development community. 

Many benefits of an ICC Chapter will be realized, including a great networking opportunity for ICC Chapter members. Eligible ICC chapters will be awarded education benefits from ICC which could mean a complimentary training day for qualified chapters. Discussions about a possible Alamo ICC Chapter began early in 2016 and is now being developed.  

DSD will host an informative meeting on Oct. 5, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the One Stop, 1901 S. Alamo St., 78204. The meeting will be in-person, and also via webex. Be on the look out for more information. 

 

DSD Academy

Partnering with our community to build and maintain a safer San Antonio is a mission that we take seriously and are always looking for new and innovative ways in which to accomplish our goals. As part of our efforts to increase and improve our partnership with our community, we offer DSD Academy to help residents understand the various aspects of development, including zoning, platting, permits, inspections, code enforcement and graffiti.

Upcoming presentations will be held at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Services Center, located at 1901 S. Alamo St., 78204, in the Boardroom (1st floor). Classes will start at 9 a.m.
