Director, Amin Tohmaz

Career

Amin Tohmaz, PE, CBO, was appointed Development Services Director in August 2025 after serving as Deputy Director of Field Services since January 2019. Mr. Tohmaz leads the department as well as serving as the Building and Code Official for the City.

Mr. Tohmaz has been employed with the City since January 2013 and has over 20 years of experience in the engineering and management fields. Prior to becoming Director, Mr. Tohmaz served as Development Services Engineer for the Plan Review section, Assistant Director for Field Services section and most recently as Deputy Director.

Before joining the City of San Antonio, he served as Director of Operations for Beckwith Electronic Engineering Company for 11 years.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, University of Damascus
• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, The University of Texas at San Antonio

• Professional Engineer (PE), Fire Protection & Electrical Engineering, Texas
• Multiple International Code Council national certifications including Certified Building Official.
