Code Enforcement Units

Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing minimum property maintenance standards throughout the city. The division consists of eight to ten Code Enforcement Officers, including a Dangerous Premises Officer, and is overseen by a Code Enforcement Supervisor. Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET)

The NET is a team of proactive code enforcement officers dedicated to coordinated code investigations and special projects with special emphasis on highly traveled areas throughout the City's main district corridors and inner city reinvestment areas.

Five officers are currently assigned to the unit. Their responsibilities include the following:

  • Concentrate efforts cleaning up the top five most frequently observed violations, including:
  • overgrown yards
  • items discarded in yards
  • junk vehicles
  • overgrown vacant lots
  • abandoned houses
  • Coordinate clean-ups of home where elderly or disabled residents may need a helping hand removing old discarded items.
  • Make tools available for loan to residents through our Community Tool Shed program.

Zoning & Licensing Enforcement Team

The Zoning and Licensing Team is a comprised team of Code Enforcement Officers who proactively conduct routine inspections and investigations for city licensed businesses, property zoning issues and building permits. The team also responds to complaints from the Development Services Center and the 311 Customer Service line.
