About
Illumination on residential streets and properties is important to traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as the overall quality of life and well-being of our community.
Our Streetlight Team is composed of engineers and engineering technicians dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. When we receive a residential streetlight request, staff evaluates whether streetlights are warranted, communicates with customers and industry partners, and monitors the CPS Energy design and construction process for streetlights.
Streetlights are designed to meet the Military Lighting Overlay District (MLOD) requirements, reducing light intensity levels, glare, and light pollution in areas throughout the city limits. MLOD standards represent best practices and were adapted from the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) recommended best practices.

Gap Analysis & Dashboard
The Streetlight Team has finished the gap analysis of residential streets within the city limits and identified the analysis by City Council Districts. This study identified location where illumination (streetlights) was warranted.
In FY 2023, 188 streetlights were installed. The Streetlight Gap Dashboard provides status updates on streetlight installations and is updated monthly.
