Support Services Team

About

Created in 2017, the Support Services team is comprised of administrative staff responsible for providing support across the Development Services Department (DSD) in the following areas:

  • fiscal services
  • public relations
  • training
  • special projects
  • support for our Accela/BuildSA online permitting platform

The team helps not only with providing support to our internal customers, DSD staff, but external customers as well.  DSD works with a number of external committees, stakeholder groups and contractors.

Community Engagement

In addition to media requests, the team helps support DSD's outreach to the community. They use social media to increase the public's knowledge of zoning, building codes and code enforcement.

Core Functions

Some of the major projects associated with this team include:

  • training
  • open records requests
  • performance measures
  • coordination of the annual budget process

The budget process entails estimating and forecasting trends based on valuations, permit activity and code enforcement violations.

BuildSA Support

The department's next-generation system launched in late 2021. This division houses the BuildSA Support team, which:

  • provides system training for customers and staff.
  • guides the ongoing maintenance and development of BuildSA.
