The City of San Antonio Metro Health started the Diabetes Prevention & Control program in 2013. We offer NO COST services to the community to help prevent and control diabetes. Our goal is to see San Antonians live a longer, healthier life! Our trained lifestyle coaches and health program specialists participate in community events and workshops bringing diabetes awareness and education.
The FREE Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) offered by Metro Health provides a supportive environment through a series of 25 workshops where participants work together in a small group to learn about healthier eating and increasing their physical activity in order to reduce their risk of developing diabetes. We also offer virtual options to help keep San Antonio safe and healthy.

The FREE Self-Management Program offered by Metro Health provides support for individuals to take control of their health. Through a series of six healthy living workshops, participants will learn skills to safely manage the symptoms of diabetes. Each workshop encourages participants to share experiences and support one another along the way. We also offer virtual options to help keep San Antonio safe and healthy.
The FREE Health & Wellness Program offered by Metro Health Provides tools for individuals to take a diabetes preventative approach and helps manage their existing health conditions. Through a series of six healthy living workshops, participants will learn a range of self-management topics and build skills to reduce their risk of developing diabetes and other health conditions to enjoy a healthier life. We also offer virtual options to help keep San Antonio safe and healthy.
Workshops are held in a classroom setting and are designed to maximize peer support. We welcome family members, friends, and caregivers to accompany you along the way.
