Resource Center at Villa Coronado
Metro Health held the grand opening of the Resource Center at Villa Coronado on September 16, 2023. Once a dental office, the building sat vacant for years and was slated to be demolished. Local community members worked together with the Healthy Neighborhoods program to save the building. The newly renovated Center will serve the Southside community, organizations, and the City of San Antonio.
Activities
The following activities are available:
- Community meetings
- Free little library
- A private lactation room
- Resume workshops and job application support
- Monthly mobile health services (examples: STI testing, mammograms, WIC enrollment)
- Fitness classes (examples: walking groups, Tai-Chi, yoga)
- Fruit tree maintenance and harvesting activities
- Nutrition and gardening classes
- Health promotion classes (examples: Diabetes Self-Management, Positive Parenting Program)
