Baby Buggy Walk & Health Expo

In communities across the country, public health officials are confronting a silent and heartbreaking threat: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Though SIDS remains mysterious in many respects, experts agree that effective injury-prevention strategies can significantly reduce the risk.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and National SIDS Awareness Month. The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District’s annual Baby Buggy Walk helps turn awareness into action.

By joining together and pushing strollers, sharing stories, and educating families, we spotlight safe-sleep practices and injury prevention in a public, community setting. This walk connects hearts and minds, reminding us that preventing harm to our babies requires awareness, support, and collective responsibility. Let October be a month of remembrance and commitment to protecting our youngest lives.

Metro Health invites the community to join the “Wings of Love” Baby Buggy Walk. Each push of a stroller, each step we take, helps raise awareness about safe sleep, prenatal health, injury prevention, and the support needed to protect our littlest ones.
