Metro Health provides mosquito control services on public property within the City of San Antonio limits to protect the residents of and visitors to San Antonio from diseases that these vectors can spread.
Mosquito surveillance involves monitoring mosquito populations to assess their numbers, species, and activity levels. This process helps identify areas with mosquito activity and potential breeding sites, guiding targeted control measures. By tracking mosquito pools, Metro Health can implement more effective strategies to reduce their impact and prevent the spread of diseases. These strategies include fogging for adult mosquitoes and launching communication campaigns about prevention to targeted areas.
Surveillance in the City of San Antonio is conducted from March through October.
