Fingerprints & Background Checks

The Identification Office provides:

• Fingerprinting services
• Background checks/criminal history information (personal, employment, housing)
• Clearance letters
• Consulate/Immigration letters
• Notary services

NOTE: These services are not considered open records requests and should not be submitted through the Open Records Requests Online Portal.

Fingerprinting

Visit the Identification Office to get fingerprints recorded. We record fingerprints on an FD258 card. You are responsible for sending the fingerprint card to the FBI or the DPS for a statewide or nationwide check.

To request a fingerprint record, you will need one of the following forms of identification:

• Driver’s license or federal, state, or local government agency ID card with photograph
• Military ID
• U.S. or foreign passport
• USCIS Permanent Resident Card (I-551) or Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
