The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) updated the Body Worn Camera Department Procedure in December 2020. We release portions of videos and 911 calls related to officer-involved shootings or use of force resulting in the death of an individual.
We balance the right of the public to have access to this information with individuals’ rights to privacy and due process.
We do not release videos related to domestic violence unless the Police Chief believes that the release will serve a law enforcement purpose.
SAPD releases critical incident videos within 30 days after the incident or provides an explanation for not releasing the video.
NOTE: Some videos are age-restricted and only available when signed in to YouTube.
