November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of preventing, detecting, and managing diabetes.
This is a chronic health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. The observance encourages communities to learn about prevention, early detection, and management strategies that can lead to healthier, longer lives.
The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District is raising awareness about diabetes and encouraging residents to take control of their health through its Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, which offers no-cost workshops and support services to help prevent and manage diabetes.
The workshops focus on building healthy habits, including nutrition, physical activity, and blood sugar management, while offering support for individuals at risk of or living with diabetes. Metro Health encourages residents to take steps toward a healthier future by learning how to prevent diabetes and manage it effectively if diagnosed.
