$35 million to build affordable rental homes.
San Antonio voters approved the 2022 - 2027 Bond Program on May 7, 2022. The Affordable Housing Bond includes $150 million for the City of San Antonio to create and preserve affordable housing in five funding categories. One of those categories is to build affordable rental homes.
Developers and nonprofits propose a project to build for low-income renters. Projects are awarded funding through a competitive process. The goal is to create housing near jobs, transit, schools and services.
Affordability for homes is defined by Area Median Income (AMI).
The department uses the word "home" to describe apartments and houses for rent or to own.
