Credit Access Business: Lender Registration

You must register with the City of San Antonio if you are a credit access business as defined by Section 393.601 of the Texas Finance Code and operating in the City of San Antonio.

These businesses obtain for consumers or assist consumers in obtaining an extension of consumer credit, commonly known as payday loans or motor vehicle title loans.

Registration

To obtain a City certificate of registration, credit access businesses must be licensed by the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner (OCCC). The form may be completed and printed locally.

Step 1.Required Documents

Copy of Texas state license issued under Chapter 393 of Texas Finance Code
Copy of Certificate of Occupancy issued under Section 10-12 of the City of San Antonio Code of Ordinances

Step 2.Fees & Payment

Fee: $50

NOTE: This fee is non-refundable.

Payments may be made by check (i.e., certified check or money order) or cash.

Checks must be made payable to the City of San Antonio.
Cash payments must be made in person.
Credit cards are not accepted.

Expiration & Renewal

A certificate of registration expires on the earlier of:

One year after the date of issuance; or
The date revocation, suspension, surrender, expiration without renewal or other termination of the registrant's state license.

A certificate of registration may be renewed by following the registration process above.

Please apply for renewal at least 30 days before the expiration of your registration.
