The City of San Antonio continues to have excellent general obligation bond ratings and has the highest among the top 10 cities by population. The City has maintained a “AAA” general obligation bond rating from Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Ratings for 16 years. The City also has a “AA+” general obligation bond rating from Fitch Ratings since 2018. These overall excellent bond ratings mean a low cost of borrowing on the City’s property tax-supported debt, which allows for potentially more funding for many of the City’s capital projects.
The City’s latest fiscal year Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for participation in its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program(PDF, 23MB), an award which the City of San Antonio has received for the last 42 consecutive years.
