Career

Marc Jacobson, P.E., PTOE, was appointed Assistant Director of Public Works for the Traffic Division in 2026. As Assistant Director and City Traffic Engineer, he oversees leadership of two business units with 100 employees:

  • Traffic Engineering and Operations
  • Transportation Systems Management and Operations

Marc has been with the City of San Antonio since 2006. He has previously worked for the Texas Department of Transportation, the City of Dallas and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. He has served as the Vice Chair for the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's Technical Advisory Committee since 2019.

Marc is a recognized leader in the local, state, national and international transportation community. In 2023, he was elected to serve as the Texas District International Director for ITE-A Community of Transportation Professionals. In 2026, he was selected as the Transportation Professional of the Year for the ITE Texas District. In 2026, he was elected to serve at the ITE International Vice President beginning in 2027.
