Study San Antonio is a consortium of local universities and colleges that work together to facilitate international educational exchange at all levels and to promote the city's higher education and research assets. The Global Engagement Office (GEO) serves as a resource to and convener of Study San Antonio.

Studying abroad and hosting international students are important aspects of a well-rounded education, and critical thinking skills and competencies honed through such exposure is attractive to employers.

They contribute to the advancement of research, knowledge and technology and become important ambassadors and connectors upon their return to their home countries. Local non-profit, Students of Service (SOS) develops young leaders who have a global perspective to solve local problems. Their programs combine meaningful local community service with informed international experiences. The Naoko Mitsui Shirane Foundation scholarships are designed to foster broader world vision and leadership skills by introducing students to the Japanese people, their history, culture and the industries impacting our community.
