Honorary Consul of Chile in San Antonio
Marco A. Barros is the Honorary Consul of Chile in San Antonio, where he fosters business and cultural ties between Chile and the region. A native of Santiago, Chile, Barros moved to the U.S. at 16 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
His career spans roles in tourism, transportation and international marketing, including leadership at the San Antonio Area Tourism Council, where he helped secure United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage status for the San Antonio Missions.
Barros also serves on civic boards, including the San Antonio Airport Advisory Commission. His past work includes business development and strategy with Melvin Simon and Associates, the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation, Hearst Corporation and American Airlines, focusing on tourism planning in Latin America.
