Real Estate
The Real Estate division is responsible for the acquisition of real property for Bond Projects, Capital Improvement Projects and other projects for use by the City of San Antonio. The sale of real property, encroachment permitting and other disposition services described in the processing fee schedule below are also administered.

Property Owned by the City
The Real Estate division built and maintains a property platform that displays all City-owned property. This database shows different asset types, including potential surplus properties, along with the identified City Department that manages or uses the property.

The Real Estate Manager should be contacted for official information as the City typically has multiple transactions per year per department. The baseline data was provided by the Bexar County Appraisal District and reviewed by City departments. The City does not guarantee ownership, use or availability as that can change rapidly.
Purchasing City Property
Potential surplus property is periodically identified. Any properties with that asset classification are in the database that shows all City-owned property. To find that information, please view the database and filter the asset type for "potential surplus" properties.
The sale of surplus property is subject to City Departmental and public utility review, Planning Commission recommendation and City Council approval.
It is the responsibility of potential buyers to examine all applicable building codes and zoning ordinances. The City makes no representation or warranty concerning zoning, condition of title or use. Further, the City requires canvassing of all relevant City Departments and public utilities and so cannot guarantee the availability of any properties for a surplus sale.

Submit completed application and check or money order for the non-refundable processing fee, made payable to the City of San Antonio. Petitions are processed only upon a complete submission of the petition package and processing fee.
