Found a lost pet and want to check for a microchip? Animal Care Services (ACS) and the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) have partnered to provide free, self-service microchip scanning stations at 11 fire stations throughout the community. Each scanning site includes easy-to-follow instructions, and the outdoor stations are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Residents who have safely contained a found pet can use a scanner to check the animal for a microchip. If a chip is detected, follow the instructions provided at the station to look up the microchip number and begin the process of contacting the pet's family.
