Juvenile Court

Defendants under the age of 17 are classified as juveniles in the State of Texas. Juveniles are required to appear in open Court with a parent or a legal guardian, even when legal representation has been obtained.

To assist families, the Court offers a wide range of programs, classes and other community resources.

Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance

Cases for adults charged with an offense of Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance are also heard in Juvenile Court. Parents must appear on the date stated in the court summons. 

If you need to reset your cases, parent may request a new date from the Court in person.

Juvenile Appearance

If you received a citation or summons to appear in court and are under 17, you must appear in person and with a parent or legal guardian.

You are expected to dress appropriately when you come to court. A strict dress code is enforced.

Failure to Appear

If you fail to appear for your original appearance date, a warrant may be issued for your arrest if you are over 16. The State may also file an extra charge of Failure to Appear.
