Chief Christopher Monestier entered the SAFD over 30 years ago in 1993 and has held many different roles during his career. Chief Monestier was a firefighter and company officer in the Firefighting division, a Division Chief in Fire Prevention, became the First Planning Division Chief, and served as the Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief over Administrative Services.
Chief Monestier was born and raised here in San Antonio and is a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Chief has been happily married to his wife Miriam for 28 years and have two sons. One is currently a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp, and another is attending their alma mater, UTSA. Chief Monestier has been the Interim Fire Chief since January of 2024.
