Signs & Right-of-Way Responsibilities

Follow all applicable rules and regulations. Contact Code Enforcement for any questions or if you have received a notice of violation.

Signs

  • Obtain a permit for your signs and follow the weekend signs rules and regulation.
  • Do not attach a bandit sign to a utility pole, tree, retaining wall or any other object located on a City right-of-way.

Event & Political Signage

  • Home Owner Associations (HOA), Property Owner Associations (POA) and neighborhood associations may display event signs in their area to announce meetings.
    • Signs may be no more than 6 square feet in size and must be removed 48 hours after the event.
  • Political signs may be displayed on the City right-of-way and allowed to remain up to 90 days after elections.

Right-of-Way

Obstructions

  • Keep rights-of-way clear of all obstructions.  They are used for public passage and for the installation of curbs, sidewalks and utilities.
  • Do not store any obstructions such as recreational equipment (swing sets, basketball goals, etc.) on City right-of-way.
  • Do not build anything on City right-of-way without prior approval.

Parking

  • Do not park a vehicle in an alleyway.
  • Avoid parking over the curb line or blocking the sidewalk with your vehicle.

Trees & Plants

  • Keep rights-of-way free of overhanging tree limbs and other plants that impede the passage of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • Don’t trim any tree limbs near power lines. Instead, contact CPS Energy tree trimming service.
