South Alamo Selfie Challenge

Ready for an adventure? Join the South Alamo Selfie Challenge! The challenge runs May 18 – June 18, 2026.

Participants are encouraged to complete selfie challenges in areas of South Alamo Street that include La Villita, Hemisfair and Southtown. It’s easy to participate.

Complete one of three challenges in each of the Selfie Challenge areas and automatically be entered to win prizes. Explore, snap and share your experience while supporting local businesses and discovering the charm of South Alamo.

To participate:

  1. Follow Downtown - City of San Antonio on Instagram and/or Facebook.
  2. Post a selfie challenge using photo(s) on your Instagram or Facebook page and tag @DowntownCOSA.
  3. Use the hashtag #SouthAlamoSelfie.
  4. Direct message us that you completed the Selfie Challenge for that week.

Contest Rules & Prizes

By participating in the Selfie Challenge, you are giving the City of San Antonio permission to use your photos. Photo submissions may be used for future Selfie Challenge promotional posts.

Week 1: May 18 – 24 at Hemisfair
Prize winner will be announced on Tuesday, May 26.
Week 2: May 25 – 31 at La Villita
Prize winner will be announced on Monday, June 1.
Week 3: June 1 – 7 at Southtown
Prize winner will be announced on Monday, June 8.
Week 4: June 8 – 14 with submissions to all three locations
The grand prize winner will be announced on Thursday, June 18.

Hemisfair

Discover Hemisfair, a vibrant downtown district where local restaurants, shops, cafés, and creative businesses thrive alongside parks, public art and iconic skyline views.

Selfie challenge (choose one):

  • Play and Pose. Play like a kid and capture a fun action selfie at the park.
  • Pawfect Selfie. Take a selfie with a furry friend.
  • Menu Photo. Take a picture of your favorite food or drink menu.

La Villita Historic Arts Village

Explore La Villita Historic Arts Village, where more than 25 shops and galleries blend artisan creativity with over a century of cultural charm.

Selfie challenge (choose one):

  • Landmark Stops. Snap a selfie at a landmark building, describe it in one word.
  • Shop. Snap. Chill. Support local shopping by snapping a selfie with your latest purchase while relaxing outside a locally owned shop.
  • Hidden Detail and Unique Finds. Take a selfie in one of the many unique corridors in the village.

Southtown

A creative corridor full of murals, local businesses, and authentic San Antonio culture just south of downtown.

Selfie challenge (choose one):

  • Mural Moment. Find the boldest mural and match its vibe.
  • Neon Lights Day or Night. Snap a selfie with a sign or storefront.
  • Local Love. Highlight a small business in your background.
