About

Students from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Architecture and San Antonio College (SAC), in coordination with the City of San Antonio's Office of Historic Preservation (OHP), participate in an annual service project called S.T.A.R. to assist homeowners. This event also combines with the larger effort of REHABARAMA.

How It Works

At each event, students are led by volunteer professionals to perform minor repairs and maintenance to the exterior of qualifying homes. Work may include:

  • repairs to wood windows
  • repairs to wood siding
  • repairs to wood porches
  • general exterior yard maintenance
  • exterior painting

The team completes as much work as possible in order to assist the homeowner in rehabilitating their historic home.

Get Involved

Students working on revitalizing a historic house

If you have contracting experience, we are always looking for volunteer contractors to lead teams of students. Rehabber Club members who participate in S.T.A.R. earn credits that build their Rehabber Club status. This event is a great way to build recognition within the community while educating the next generation of rehabbers.

Every event also offers sponsorship opportunities.
