Affordable Housing Study

In 2019, the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) commissioned a study to better understand how San Antonio's existing older housing stock contributes to affordable housing. The study, prepared by PlaceEconomics, focuses on the preservation of "old houses" as a strategy to:

  • stabilizing long-term homeownership rates
  • increasing the availability of affordable rental units
  • preventing displacement in inner-city neighborhoods
