As Military City USA, San Antonio hosts military and veteran events throughout the year to include career fairs, resource fairs, wellness events, networking opportunities, and social events. 

Valero Alamo Bowl: Military Spouse Scholarship Presented by USAA

NOTE: As the Official Military Appreciation Partner of the Valero Alamo Bowl, USAA is supporting a scholarship opportunity for military spouses stationed in or around San Antonio who are looking to further their education (degree programs, certification programs, technical training, vocational schools, etc.)

The Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship Foundation will provide one military spouse with a one-time $7,500 award. 

DATES: The recipient will be notified by December 13, 2024 and will be invited to the Valero Alamo Bowl Kickoff Luncheon Presented by USAA on December 27, 2024 and the Valero Alamo Bowl football game on December 28, 2024 as an honored guest.

DEADLINE: Military Spouses must submit their application by December 1, 2024 to be considered.

Third annual Valero Alamo Bowl Veteran Tailgate and Military Club Event

One of the highlights this year is the Flag Ceremony, where 120 Veterans, Active Duty and First Responders will have the honor of unfurling the 100-yard American flag on the field before the game. Each veteran selected will receive a free shirt, access to the veteran tailgate, a tour of the field, and up to 4 free tickets to the event.

  • Time: 9am – 6pm (Tailgate) ; 6pm – 9pm (2nd Floor Military/ First Responders Club)
  • Location: Alamodome 100 Montana St, San Antonio, TX 78203
  • Food, beverages, and comradery will be provided!

  • recognition of each military service's birthday at San Antonio's City Council
  • the military child during each April
  • military and veteran caregivers in conjunction with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation each May
  • Women's Veterans Day each June
  • Veterans Day each November
  • Celebrate America's Military from mid October to December
