Our City Cares: Emergency Child Care Services

"Our City Cares" funding is allocated by City Council to assist San Antonio residents with short term childcare during an emergency or extenuating circumstance.

To qualify for services, the applicant must provide proof of residency within a City Council District and meet at least one of the following criteria with supportive documentation:

  • Homeless, or at risk of losing permanent housing, due to:
    • unexpected reduced income
    • receipt of an eviction notice
    • living with friend
    • family living in a facility/shelter
  • Obtaining new guardianship of a child or children due to abandonment, incarceration, or death.
  • Being a teen parent or an intern of the City of San Antonio Ambassador Summer Internship Program.
  • Have extenuating circumstances, which have a negative impact on or disrupt an individual's ability to obtain or maintain stable childcare services, such as, but not limited to:
    • domestic violence
    • residential fire
    • natural disaster
    • emergency medical treatment
