City / County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs

City/County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs

The City/County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs works to improve the quality of life of seniors in San Antonio and Bexar County through outreach, advocacy, support of Senior Services and resources. The City/County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs was established in 2002 by the San Antonio City Council and the Bexar County Commissioners Court. The role of the commission is to serve in an advisory capacity on issues related to seniors, advocate for seniors in the community, and serve as a clearinghouse for information on elderly issues, programs and services. Priority issues of the commission include ensuring Seniors have access to: prescription drugs, Medicare, and Medicaid; nutrition; transportation; Senior One Stop Centers; housing, long term care and assisted living; crime and safety; and tax relief and legal assistance.
