After School Challenge

DHS operates the After School Challenge Program through contractual agreements and established partnerships with eight school districts and four community based organizations in 146 Elementary and Middle Schools.

After School Challenge provides activities, both educationally based and recreational, to youth at 146 school sites during the school year. Fees for the program are based on family income, family size and the number of children participating in the program.

An estimated 11,650 children will receive homework assistance, tutoring and other school-related aid, in addition to participating in various recreational activities. The program is staffed by each district or organization to operate daily activities for youth with at least one teacher providing supervision at each site.

All students at a particular school site are eligible to register. For further registration information, please contact your school site or agency providing the program.
