Overview
Since 2007, the City of San Antonio has offered emerging professionals the opportunity to immerse themselves in local government management and develop real-world skills and experience as Management Fellows. Through this 12-month program, the City develops new professionals and offers them the chance to complete important projects and work alongside leaders from the 7th largest city in the nation.
Responsibilities & Opportunities
Management Fellows see many of the challenges facing local governments today. They also help leverage new and innovative methods to deal with these challenges.
They gain hands-on experience with:
- Conducting budget and program analysis
- Managing special projects
- Solving real-world problems faced by 21st Century cities
Department Rotation
Each Management Fellow spends 4 months in the following departments:
- The City Manager’s Office
- The Office of Management & Budget
- One operating department
Each rotation provides a broad base of experience. This benefits both the individual employee and the City in the future.
