Job Postings

We add new job postings almost daily. Please note that the availability of each position is subject to change at any time.

Application Deadlines

Please submit your application no later than the listed closing date and time. Refer to the job posting for any applicable closing dates.

Applications received after the posting closes will not be considered.

NOTE: Positions may close at any time and may close early based on the volume of applications received.

Substitution: Education and Experience

Unless otherwise stated, the following substitutions are permitted to meet the minimum requirements of the job:

  • 2 years of related full-time experience for 1 year of higher education
    • 1 year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
  • 1 year of related higher education for 2 years of experience
    • 1 year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Experience cannot be substituted for a high school diploma or GED equivalent. High school diplomas and GEDs must be recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.

Supplemental Questions

Most job postings will include job-specific supplemental questions. Please provide job-related information about you and your education or work experience in response to these questions.

You will find the questions on the Questions tab of the posting. They will also appear on the online application for the position.

You must answer the supplemental questions for your application to be considered.

Salary Range

Some job postings list the minimum and maximum salary for each job classification. This is the established salary range.

Work Days, Hours and Location

Work days, work hours, and work location are subject to change at the Department's discretion.

Application Review

Successfully Received

You will receive a confirmation email from our application system once your application was successfully submitted. You can also sign into your online account to verify if an application was successfully submitted.

Meets Minimum Requirements

Applications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. You will receive an email indicating whether your application meets these qualifications.

  • If you qualify, your information will be sent to the hiring department for further review.
  • If you do not qualify, you will be notified via email by a Human Resources Team Member.

Interviews

The timeframe for interviews can vary based on position and hiring department, but interviews are generally conducted within 2 - 4 weeks after a job posting closes. If you are selected for an interview, the hiring department will notify you, typically by phone.

Background Checks & Screening

We are committed to protecting the community and individuals. We take steps to avoid hiring individuals who represent a risk to the City or community.

Any applicant selected for employment must receive satisfactory results from

  • pre-employment drug testing
  • criminal history background checks
  • credential verification as required by the position, including:
    • education
    • experience
    • certifications/licenses
  • reference checks

Other screenings may be conducted based on the position's responsibility, access, and requirements. For example:

  • Applicants selected for positions with driving responsibilities may undergo a motor vehicle record evaluation.
  • Applicants selected for positions with specific physical requirements may undergo a pre-employment physical exam.
  • Employees in "Sensitive or High-Risk" positions are subject to interval criminal background checks.
  • Employees in CDL positions are subject to random drug testing. (Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations)
