AmeriCorps Texas

Make a difference in America’s 7th largest City! The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health), the local public health authority for San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas, has received a Public Health AmeriCorps grant and is currently recruiting two AmeriCorps members. Each member will be expected to serve a minimum of 1200 hours during their term of service. In doing so, members will receive a living allowance (stipend).

One AmeriCorps member will be assigned to either the SA Kids Breathe Program to support the EXHALE Project or the Air Quality Program. The service needs of both programs includes working with local organizations to host educational community events in high priority, lower-income and minority communities.

Applying

Step 1.Expected Term of Service

  • October 1, 2022-August 30, 2023
  • Members may serve for multiple terms, subject to availability of funding

Step 3.The Interview and Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Eligible applicants will be invited to interview with the staff of the SA Kids Breathe and/or Air Quality Program. Individuals selected for service will be required to pass a National Service Criminal History Check.

Step 4.After the Program: Building a Career

Launch your career with Metro Health, a nationally accredited public health agency, accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board, charged by State law, City code, and County Resolution with the responsibility for providing public health programs in San Antonio and unincorporated areas of Bexar County, Texas.

As an AmeriCorps member you will have the opportunity to network with various programs within Metro Health. In addition, you will have access to trainings and mentorship opportunities throughout your service term.
