Father Roman Community Center

Facility: Closed until further notice.
Villa Coronado Park and the Resource Center at Villa Coronado are open to the public.

Amenities

Brackenridge Park

Playground: Closed until further notice.
Playground at Lambert Beach is closed to the public.

Classen-Steuben Ranch Park

Playground: Closed until mid December 2025.
Mitchell’s Landing Playground is temporarily closed for maintenance. The park, sport fields, walking trail and pavilion remain open.

Friesenhahn Park

Parking Lot: November 3 - 10, 2025
Temporary closure of O’Connor Road parking lot as part of 2022-2027 Bond improvements. Pedestrian access to the park from O’Connor Road sidewalks will still be possible as will access to park interior trail, pavilion and portable restroom.

Friedrich Wilderness Park

Parking Lot: July 17 - October 31, 2025
The overflow parking lot will be closed for a construction project.

Lockwood-Dignowity Park

Gliders/Benches: November 3 - December 1, 2025
The gliders/benches near the playground will be closed for replacement.

Pickwell Park

Parking Lot: November 4 - December 31, 2025
The Pickwell Park accessible parking lot is temporarily closed for improvements from the 2022-2027 Bond Program. The accessible parking area closure is to allow for contractor staging for install of the playground expansion and the new trail lights. Once staging and install is complete, the parking lot will receive an upgrade to include improved accessible parking before being opened again.

Rohde Park

Parking Lot: November 6 - 7, 2025
Temporary closure of Buddy Calk Trailhead parking lot for parking upgrades to include restriping and sealcoat approved as part of the Buddy Calk/Al Rohde Park Bond project.

Leon Creek Greenway

At Bandera Road: Closed until mid-October.
The greenway trail will be closed at Bandera Road (between the Mainland Drive and Grissom Road trailheads) for a SAWS maintenance project.

Trail: The greenway trail from Valero Trailhead to Old Fredericksburg Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately two weeks starting September 25 due to TxDOT related construction.

Medina River Greenway System

At Pleasanton Road and Applewhite Road: October 18 - 19.
The trail will be temporarily closed due to a Land Heritage Institute equine event. Trail will reopen on Monday, October 20.

Salado Creek Greenway

At Austin Highway: Closed until the anticipated completion in fall 2025.
The trail is temporarily closed due to TxDOT bridge construction. The trail will be reopened/closed periodically during bridge construction through fall 2025.

E. Houston to Belgium Lane and Red Berry connector trailhead: Closed April 5, 2024, until further notice.
A segment of the Salado Creek Greenway Trail, between E. Houston and Belgium Lane is temporarily closed for maintenance, including the Red Berry Trailhead entrance at 4029 I-10, San Antonio, TX 78219.

At Tobin Trailhead: October 16 - 23.
A segment of the trail will be temporarily closed from 7.a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for a TXDOT construction project on the following days:

• Thursday & Friday, October 16 - 17
• Monday - Thursday, October 20 - 23

Closures Due to Weather

Water saturated trails become muddy and sometimes impassable. On those occasions, the trails are closed until they dry out. If left open, hikers and runners often go around the puddles, which widens the trails. This also leads to erosion and trail damage. For the safety of our patrons and as good stewards of these trails, we must close some trails when they are wet.
