SA Climate Ready Advisory Committee

About

The SA Climate Ready Advisory Committee helps guide San Antonio toward a cleaner, more resilient future. They advise City staff and City Council on the SA Climate Ready Plan and long-term sustainability efforts through diverse perspectives and expertise.

Their guidance supports actions that:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Strengthen the city’s resilience to climate impacts.
  • Ensure a healthier, more sustainable San Antonio for all.

History

To effectively implement the CAAP and prioritize strategies, an externally recruited committee was formed, the SA Climate Action Advisory Board. Members are selected based on:

  • Technical expertise in elements related to climate mitigation and adaptation or other important areas related to plan implementation.
  • Representation of important perspectives.
  • An interest to collaborate to bring about successful outcomes.

Membership

The committee is composed of 17 members:

  • ten city council-appointed members
  • one member appointed by the mayor
  • one youth member appointed by the mayor
  • five ex-officio members from:
    • CPS Energy
    • San Antonio Water System (SAWS)
    • VIA Metropolitan Transit
    • San Antonio River Authority
    • Joint Base San Antonio

Meeting Schedule

Meetings are held in-person quarterly. All meetings are from 3 – 5 p.m.
