Texas Women's Privacy Act

The City of San Antonio is committed to complying with all applicable state laws, including the Texas Women’s Privacy Act (Senate Bill 8).

This law requires that certain public facilities in government-owned buildings be designated for use based on biological sex. To report an incident of a City facility that is not in compliance with this law, you may submit a complaint using the form below.

What the Law Requires

The Texas Women’s Privacy Act applies to multiple-occupancy private spaces in government buildings, such as

  • restrooms
  • locker rooms
  • changing rooms
  • shower rooms
  • spaces where individuals may be in a state of undress in the presence of others

The law mandates that these spaces be designated for use by either males or females, based on the biological sex listed on a person’s original birth certificate.

NOTE: This compliance complaint is limited to buildings and facilities owned or operated by the City of San Antonio. If your complaint involves a facility owned by Bexar County or another government entity, please direct your complaint to them.
