Officer Sarai Meneses

Hi!! I’m Sarai Meneses, I’m 27 years old and originally from a small border town, Presidio Tx. I attended Angelo State University and completed my Bachelors’ Degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Animal Science. I love animals and have always dreamed of becoming a K9 officer to fulfill both of my interests. I have two dogs that consume my camera roll!

Soon after completing my degree at 20 years old, I moved to San Antonio to work for TDCJ as a correctional officer in an all-male medium security Prison.

I knew I wanted to become a Police officer after gaining some experience. A year later I applied to become a Dispatcher for the city of San Antonio and quickly became interested in applying for this police department. Soon after a year and a half of dispatching, I applied to SAPD and completed the academy to become a sworn Police Officer in 2019. I have always been into fitness and in competed in several sports growing up such as Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. While in college I was introduced to CrossFit and joined a gym in college where it opened a love for weightlifting/strength training. I enjoy going to the gym every day and plan on challenging myself to complete a full marathon in the near future!

“This Police department has introduced me to Lifelong friends outside of Work. Prior to joining the Recruitment Detail, I worked Patrol on the East, West and Central side of the city. This department has afforded me help the community in several ways. It’s good to see several women do this job. Growing up I have always paid attention and admired females in this career field. I’m hoping that in some capacity I can be that for other women and young girls.”

We moved to several cities throughout the U.S. and found ourselves in my father’s hometown of Hattiesburg, Mississippi where we would reside the longest as a family. Before I began High School, we would move again to Laredo Texas. I spent a year in Laredo at (United High School) before moving up to San Antonio. I enrolled at Warren High School and graduated 2011. I was involved in Football, Track, and Karate.

After High School, I continued my education to gain my bachelor’s degree at UTSA. While enrolled there, I worked as a Martial Arts Karate Instructor at a local Dojo for several years. After my time at Street Crimes just short of 5 years, I transferred to the RecruitingDetail in September of 2023.

“I am blessed and grateful to have been exposed to many places and diverse cultures around the US. San Antonio has been a special place to me and it is now where I can call my home because of SAPD and the community itself. I am proud to share my story and give inspiration to those that want to achieve greatness and do for those, that cannot do for themselves.”

Officer Anya Rigoni

I was born in Russia and was adopted by an amazing family in California when I was 10 years old. After graduating high school, I went to college at University of Nevada, Reno where I majored in Criminal Justice and minor in Military Science. After my freshman year of college, I joined the Army. After graduating college, I commissioned as an Officer in the Army National Guard.

I grew up loving animals and my first job was a veterinary assistant when I was a sophomore in high school. Throughout the years, with experience and schooling, I worked my way to becoming a veterinary technician. In 2018 I decided it was time to make a change and applied to San Antonio Police Department. After completing the application process and being accepted into the police academy, I packed up and moved from California to Texas. I became a San Antonio Police Officer in November of 2019.

Being an officer with the San Antonio Police Department has given me the opportunity to connect with many people from all different paths of life.

“I love being able to speak with female who might shy away from becoming an officer because they believe that they are “too small.” I am 5’1 and 115lbs, you got this girl!”

Officer Sara Munoz

Officer Sara Munoz Officer Munoz decided to join SAPD to give back to her community and have a helping hand in creating a safer environment.

Officer Carlos Ortiz

I was raised in San Antonio and have lived here most of my life. My mom was a teacher who taught her whole career in the Edgewood Independent School District (poorest district in San Antonio). My father was a police officer for the San Antonio Police Department for 29 years. I was raised with conservative values and a lot of emphasis on staying out of trouble and doing well in school. It’s hard to be raised by a teacher and a police officer.

After attending Holy Cross High School, I attended the University of Texas at Austin and will always be an Orangeblood. Hook’em!!! I moved back to San Antonio in 2002 and worked several jobs but when the housing bubble collapsed in 2007-2008; I found myself applying with the San Antonio Police Department. I have been with the Police Department for 14 years and have worked patrol, Media Services, SAFFE, and now recruiting.

“My career with the San Antonio Police Department has given me opportunity, structure, and the means to build a life for me and my family.”
