Citywide Transformation Projects

The Office of Innovation works with departments across the City on projects that support Innovation's goals of identifying cost savings, improving performance and strengthening employee capacity. This work varies by project and may involve technology, research, community engagement, cross-department coordination and outside partnerships to address City challenges and improve how services are delivered.

Example Projects

Mandated, Priority & Other City Services Analysis
Partnered with the Office of Management and Budget to inventory City programs and identify how they align with legal requirements and City priorities. The analysis helped inform fiscal year (FY) 2027 budget decisions.
Communications Consolidation
Led a citywide effort to consolidate communications functions across departments, with the goal of improving coordination, consistency and efficiency in how the City communicates.
On-Call Marketing & Communications Contract
Reviewed existing City contracts for marketing, engagement and public relations services and helped establish a centralized on-call contract. The approach creates efficiencies for both City staff and vendors by streamlining access to qualified firms and reducing duplicative contracting efforts.
CivTechSA
Brought City departments together with entrepreneurs and technology partners to work on public service challenges. The effort created opportunities to develop and test new approaches to how City services are delivered.
SASpeakUp
Expanded opportunities for residents to provide input and participate in City decision-making. The SASpeakUp platform gives departments another way to engage the community and incorporate public feedback into City work.
Digital Inclusion
Supported City efforts to expand access to technology and digital resources for San Antonio residents. The work helped advance broader efforts to make digital access and City services more accessible.
