Rosedale Park has been around for a long time. Real estate developers named the park in 1892. At first, the park was only 1.7 acres big, but it was in the middle of a much larger area called Rosedale subdivision.
A company from the East Coast planned to build two neighborhoods near Rosedale Park. They even built streets and a lake, but their plans didn't work out because there weren't enough people moving to San Antonio at that time.
In 1911, a new owner bought the land, but he also couldn't develop Rosedale Park as planned.
Finally, in the 1960s, the government started a program to improve cities. This program helped to redevelop Rosedale Park, and the park grew to 60 acres. Today, Rosedale Park is almost as big as the entire subdivision that was originally planned!
