Rod Sanchez

Career

Roderick Sanchez was appointed Assistant City Manager in February 2017. In his role, he oversees the following:

  • Development Services Department
  • Public Works Department
  • Building and Equipment Services Department
  • Planning Department
  • Transportation Department
  • Management of the annual operating budget

Sanchez has served the City of San Antonio in many capacities since 1993. Before becoming Assistant City Manager, Sanchez served as the City's Building Official and Director of the Development Services Department. There, he was responsible for the daily operations of the department’s three divisions, Land Development, Plan Review and Field Services. Under his leadership, the Development Services Department achieved accreditation by the International Accreditation Services (IAS) and is now recognized as one of the best Development Services Departments in the nation.

Before joining the Development Services Department, he served as Assistant Director and as the Executive Assistant for the Planning Department. His background also includes service in the City’s Budget Office as a Management Analyst and a Budget Analyst.
