MLK March

The City of San Antonio, in partnership with District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez and the San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, chaired by Dr. Doshie Piper, invites the community to participate in the largest Martin Luther King Jr. march in the nation

The 39th Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebration will take place in person on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 10 a.m.

NOTE: March lineup begins as early as 9 a.m.

The 2026 celebration will begin with the in-person march kickoff at 10 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy,  followed by the park celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park. The park celebration will include:

• a main stage with multicultural performances
• a health and wellness area
• a youth area
• food and merchandise vendors
• information booths

Marshal Sign Up

Sign up your organization or yourself as an individual to serve as a marshal at this year's march. March marshals help keep the event moving smoothly along the designated route. They ensure that participants know when to start, stop, and slow down. Marshals also help keep groups and individuals together and assist SAPD in ensuring the safety of all marchers.

Marshal Orientation is scheduled for January 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Passengers may access bus free service to the march from 8 to 10 a.m. at the following locations:

The drop-off point for service to the march will be on MLK Drive, west of Upland Drive. 

Return Bus Service from the March

Buses will return passengers to the original pick-up locations from 12 to 3 p.m. Participants may access return service at Pittman-Sullivan Park.
