Public Art

The Department of Arts & Culture manages public art funded through capital improvement projects. Public Art created by the City reflects our vibrant and unique community.

This year marks a cultural milestone for the City of San Antonio, the 30th anniversary of its Public Art Ordinance. Established in 1996, the ordinance was created to ensure civic projects reflected the community’s unique history, culture, and aspirations through art that was accessible to all. Over the last three decades, San Antonio has transformed into a living canvas as murals, sculptures, and site-specific installations are integrated into libraries, parks, greenway trails, community centers, the River Walk, and various capital improvement projects.
