San Antonio has a long-standing relationship with Mexico. Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates Mexico's Independence each September with special programming. On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla gave his grito (cry). This sparked Mexico's fight for Independence from Spain. Each year, we commemorate this historic event, which is at the heart of our celebrations.
