San Antonio and Monterrey Mayors Agree to Regional Economic Collaboration
SAN ANTONIO (November 16, 2023) —Yesterday, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Monterrey, Mexico Mayor Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas signed a letter of intent to collaborate on building a regional economic ecosystem, targeting key sectors and industries.
The officials agreed to work together to strengthen the capabilities of the cities to drive regional economic development in part by cooperating in:
- Sustainability Initiatives
- Smart Cities
- Workforce Development
- Healthcare & Biotechnology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Big Data and Cybersecurity
- Tourism
The cities will cooperate to drive collaboration between academic institutions, trade associations, research centers, and other private sector stakeholders to continue developing a world-class industrial regional ecosystem.
“This is another critical step toward strengthening our region’s buying power in the global economy,” said Mayor Nirenberg. “As South Texas and North Mexico continue to realize their united potential, we look forward to working with our partners in Monterrey to deliver major economic developments and further prosperity for our residents.”
