Students to learn about the local judicial system, public safety, and legal career paths.

SAN ANTONIO (November 6, 2023) – The San Antonio Municipal Court joins municipal courts throughout Texas in celebrating Municipal Courts Week 2023. From Monday, November 6 to Wednesday, November 8, the Court will welcome local elementary and high school students, offering them a glimpse into its critical role within the criminal justice system and its commitment to fostering a safer community.

Municipal Courts Week will feature judge and staff presentations, mock trials, traffic safety displays, educational materials and giveaways, along with information and activity booths from partner non-profit organizations, state agencies and City departments.

In addition, the event will highlight women leaders from the City, which will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions and learn from some of the City’s prominent female public servants.

“Municipal Courts Week showcases the importance of our local judicial system and introduces students and visitors to potential career paths within the legal field,” said Municipal Court Presiding Judge Carla Obledo. “This year, we are excited to host more than 20 field trip groups with students from various schools across our city.”

The community is also invited to join in on the celebration and explore the Court from 9 a.m. to noon on each day during the event at 401 S Frio St.

The House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature, in House Concurrent Resolution 75, officially acknowledges the first week of November as Municipal Courts Week and extends its special recognition to all individuals involved in the state's municipal courts for their vital contributions.
