No action is needed on April 2, when the statewide drill takes place.
SAN ANTONIO (March 31, 2026) - The Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) is conducting a Public Warning System Statewide Drill on Thursday, April 2, 2026, between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. CST.
You may receive a text message on your phone, see alerts on local TV or radio, or hear sirens. This is only a test to ensure systems are ready for real emergencies.
If you hear or see an alert on April 2, no action is needed. It is just a drill.
This exercise tests the system, strengthens readiness, and helps ensure the community can receive critical emergency alerts when they matter most. It also encourages residents to make a disaster plan and helps identify improvements before a real emergency. Regular testing is essential to delivering fast, accurate public warnings when lives are on the line.
In the event of a disaster or emergency, SA.gov/Alerts will provide official updates from the City of San Antonio.
