Accessible Hazard Alert System

San Antonio uses the Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) to send emergency alerts to residents who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Deaf/Blind. Alerts are delivered in ASL, voice, and text. Sign Up for AHAS Alerts

If you or someone you know needs extra help during an emergency (like a medical condition, trouble moving, or trouble hearing or seeing), sign up for the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR).

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  3. Under Government Alerts, turn the type of alert on or off.
Android
  1. Open the Settings app by tapping the gear icon on your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Go to Safety and Emergency > Wireless Emergency Alerts.
  3. Use the toggles to choose which alerts you want to get.
