SAN ANTONIO (May 27, 2026) – Looking for fun things to do this summer without breaking the bank? The San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) has you covered. From magic to opera, building forts and science experiments, there is something for children and families of all ages at SAPL locations this summer.
This year's Summer with SAPL event series features programs, giveaways, activities, reading, and more at all SAPL locations.
“We want our libraries to be places where families can come together, have fun, and continue learning throughout the summer,” said Library Director Sukrit Goswami. “I am proud of the thoughtful work our staff has done to create free opportunities that are welcoming and accessible for our entire community.”
Throughout the summer, the library is offering featured guests and a host of programs centered around art, creativity, science, discovery, and play. For a complete listing of SAPL’s summer programs for kids, visit the online events calendar.
High school-aged teens are invited to take charge of their summer experience at the library through teen-led activities ranging from music production, book exploration, tech discovery, art creation, video gaming and more.
Teens can pick up a free summer t-shirt at any library location while supplies last. More details on Teen Summer are available on the SAPL website.
Adults can share their love for the library this summer by picking up a free SAPL car magnet from any location while supplies last. Take-home craft programs will also be available all summer long. For a complete listing of programs, visit the SAPL events calendar.
SAPL will also bring back collectible paleta character bookmarks this summer. Each Monday from June 1 through July 20, SAPL will release a new character and limited-edition bookmark, each with its own recommended reading list and backstory. Patrons can pick up a collectible bookmark for each character every week while supplies last. Follow the library on social media (@mysapl) to learn who will be revealed next.
