SAN ANTONIO (June 27, 2025) – Fourth of July fireworks may be fun for us to watch, but for our pets, they can be frightening. That fear may lead a scared pet to run away, and a lost dog or cat without ID has a much lower chance of being reunited with their family. San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is helping pet parents prepare early with free Safe Pet Pop-Up events ahead of the holiday.

Tuesday, July 1
In partnership with the San Antonio Park Police Community Operation Resource Education Unit (CORE)
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: West End Park, 1301 N. Hamilton (near Frank Garrett Multi-Service Center)

Wednesday, July 2
Time: 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
Location: Animal Care Services, 4710 State Highway 151 (upper parking lot)

Thursday, July 3

A permanent microchip pet ID can help pets return home, and are required by law in San Antonio. The Safe Pet Pop-Up events will offer free registered microchips and other safety essentials like collars, harnesses, and engraved tags, while supplies last. Appointments are not required, but all pets must be leashed or in an appropriate carrier to receive services. Services are available for City of San Antonio residents only.
