Joint Statement from San Antonio International Airport & Southwest Airlines.
SAN ANTONIO (May 14, 2026) – Southwest Airlines Co. and San Antonio International Airport (SAT) reached a settlement that ends the dispute over the Airport’s Airline Use and Lease Agreement (AULA) and the Terminal Development Project.
Under the agreement, Southwest has signed a new AULA that retains no fewer than six gates at SAT, reinforcing its presence as San Antonio’s largest carrier and ensuring continued access to a broad network of destinations. Once the Airport’s new terminal is completed, three Southwest gates will be located in the new Terminal C, and three gates will be in the renovated Terminal B. The settlement also resolves all outstanding issues related to rates and charges since October of 2024.
Southwest will withdraw its pending litigation against SAT in both federal court and before the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing all parties to move forward with a shared focus on progress and growth.
Together, Southwest and SAT look forward to a continued partnership that benefits San Antonio and supports the Airport’s mission of providing travelers with an exceptional travel experience.
